If you are looking for a spot to watch Monday's Solar Eclipse...check it out on Mount Wanda!

According to the park service, observers in Martinez on Monday morning will see the moon cover about 80 percent of the sun. Rangers will have a few pairs of eclipse glasses for people to share.

The free, two-hour event walk begins at 8:30 a.m. Participants should be prepared for a moderately strenuous one-mile hike to the top of Mount Wanda, which is part of the John Muir National Historic Site.

Visitors should wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. Rangers will meet in the parking lot at the corner of Alhambra Avenue and Franklin Canyon Road at the Highway 4  Alhambra Avenue exit. The walk will be canceled if it rains.

For more information, call the John Muir National Historic Site visitor center at 925-228-8860 or visit the park website www.nps.gov/jomu.
