If you are planning a spring break or summer vacation trip to Playa del Carmen, the U.S. says beware. The U.S. embassy in Mexico has issued a travel warning for the resort area of Playa del Carmen, where an explosion on a tourist ferry injured more than 20 people. In an alert posted on their website the Embassy said that they received information this week about a "credible security threat" in that city. U.S. government employees are prohibited from going there and if you are planning a vacation remain vigilant or check into rescheduling.
The resort city is near Mexico's most popular tourist destinations, like Cancun, Cozumel and Tulum.
