Steve Perry Shares His Dying Lovers Wish

Steve Perry Shares His Dying Love's Wish

Steve Perry has made his return to music and now he is speaking out about the real reason behind it all. The former Journey singer announced that he is releasing a new album, Traces, on Oct. 5. He also has a new single out now called “No Erasin’. This new track marks his return after a 20-year hiatus.

Steve shared that after the loss of his girlfriend and true love he lost his love for music, he tweeted on Wednesday, “Years ago, I disappeared. There were many reasons, but mainly… my love for music had suddenly left me. I knew that simply stopping, was what I had to do. If music was ever to return to my heart, then and only then I would figure out what to do. If not… so be it. For I had already lived the dream of dreams.”

His girlfriend Kellie Nash died of breast cancer in 2012. They dated for two years. He also shared on his website that it was Kellie who actually was the inspiration behind his return. He wrote, When Kellie was very ill, she made me promise not to keep isolating myself anymore,” Perry said. “She told me one night, ‘If something happens to me, promise me that you won’t go back into isolation because I feel that it would make this all for naught.’ In the years after her passing, that conversation never left me, and my love for music slowly returned.”

He also shared that Kellie taught him that it was better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all.

Welcome back Steve
