You Can Actually Overdose On Black Licorice

Did you know that you can overdose on black licorice? The FDA sent out a warning that eating black licorice could cause problems such as abnormal heart rhythms, high blood pressure, swelling, lethargy, and congestive heart failure. Black licorice contains a large amount of glycyrrhizin which is a sweetening agent that can cause your potassium to fall to dangerous levels. The FDA warns not to eat black licorice in large quantities, however, if you like red licorice then eat away.
