Lettuce Is Safe To Eat Again

CDC: It's OK to Eat Romaine Lettuce Again

It's OK to eat romaine lettuce again, U.S. health officials have announced.

The unsolicited permission comes after two E. coli outbreaks last year prompted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to warn people against eating romaine lettuce grown in California. "This outbreak appears to be over," a message on the CDC website reads. "CDC is no longer advising that people avoid romaine lettuce from the Salinas Valley growing region in California."

Of the two E. coli outbreaks, one affected 167 people in 27 states, while the other left 10 people in five states ill.
