Texas Governor Greg Abbott loosened his state’s coronavirus restrictions on Friday. The lifted restrictions allow for movie theaters and select businesses to reopen. While the major movie chains Cinemark, AMC and Alamo Drafthouse decided to remain closed a few smaller groups are trying to get back to business.
EVO Entertainment and Santikos Entertainment decided to open their doors. Santikos said that they are conducting business as safely as possible. They have modified the seating arrangements and exit procedures. They have even implemented temperature checks and airport security-like check-in for guests. In addition to the checks the theater owners said that they would ensure social distancing, minimize touch points and condense the concession menu. All employees will be required to wear appropriate PPE gear.
Is this going to be the new theater experience? Would you still go to movies?
