If you recently received a text message telling you that you won $175 worth of target gift cards and thought, 'this is too good to be true,' unfortunately you are absolutely correct. The latest scam involves crooks text messaging people with a link so they can claim the $175 prize. If you get one of these messages delete it immediately. Clicking on the link could install undetectable virus malware and ransomware on your phone. "Don’t click on or respond to online ads or websites offering free gift cards. These are often scams," Target wrote on its website. If you've received the scam text, make sure you report it to the Federal Trade Commission.
