Frozen Chicken Wings Test Positive For COVID-19

2020 has just thrown another curveball. A sample of frozen chicken wings that were imported from Brazil has tested positive for the coronavirus. The chicken tested positive in Shenzhen, China. Recently there have been several reports of contaminated imported food products. Shrimp from Ecuador was also found to have traces of the virus.

Fortunately health experts are saying that as of right now there is no evidence that shows the coronavirus can be transmitted by eating or handling food. People who came in contact with the contaminated chicken were tested for the virus and those tests all came back negative.

According to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) "there is no scientific evidence that meat transmits the virus." "It is not yet clear when the packaging was contaminated, and whether it occurred during the export transportation process," ABPA added.
