The Long Beach City Council officially voted to move forward with an "open streets initiative."
This means that streets would be closed down or parking lots would move dining outdoors to help businesses while also practicing social distancing. Chef and owner of Lola's Mexican Cuisine stated "It's almost like a lifeline for a lot of us in the restaurant industry."
Most restaurants are relying on takeout and delivery during this time.
This plan was proposed by the Mayor of Long Beach, Robert Garcia. This means streets will have closures and staff will need to be flexible to work with individual businesses.
