Postal Service to Honor John Lennon

The United States Postal Service is set to honor John Lennon with a 2018 commemorative Forever stamp.

The stamp will be released as part of the Music Icon series. The series has previously included Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Elvis Presley, among others. The Beatles were honored on a U.S. stamp in 1999 with a "Yellow Submarine" design.

There is no word yet on when and where the Lennon stamp will be issued on its first day of release, although it’s a good bet that a ceremony for it would take place in the Big Apple. That’s where he made his home with wife Yoko Ono.

The Lennon stamp will be the first one to feature an actual likeness of one of The Beatles.
