It’s time for the kids to get outside and enjoy summer. A great way to do that is bicycling, but there are some things you need to know first.
The number one thing is safety. A new study shows that six-hundred children are injured each day across the country in bike accidents. Dr. Lara McKenzie of Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio found that more than two-point-two-million kids turned up at emergency rooms with bike-related injuries over a ten-year period. Boys ages ten to 14-years-old were most likely to get hurt.
The good doctor has some safety tips to follow.
Make sure your kids wear properly-fitted helmets
Use hand signals
Ride in the same direction as traffic and as far right as possible
Follow the rules of the road.
