The US Postal Service will celebrate John Lennon this fall with a postage stamp in honor of the late Beatles star. Part of their series of Music Icons stamps, the Lennon stamp pane will resemble a vintage 45-rpm record sleeve, with artwork featuring a 1974 photo taken by rock photographer Bob Gruen for Lennon's Walls and Bridges album. On the back of the 16 postage stamp sheet is a photo of Lennon at his white piano, which was used to promote his 1971 album, Imagine. The stamp will be officially unveiled Friday, September 7 at a ceremony not far from when Lennon lived in New York City, at the Namburg Bandshell in Central Park. The postal service says the honoree must not be living, so what other late rock stars could be featured on a US postage stamp?
