Poison's Bret Michaels Reveals Recent Struggles With Diabetes
Former Poison lead singer Bret Michaels had to cancel a scheduled charity concert nearly a month ago. Now, he's talking about his medical struggles that forced that cancelation. The 55-year-old Michaels recently performed at the Toys In The Sun Run charity concert to benefit the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Afterward, he tweeted about his battle with diabetes.
Michaels says he has been dealing with diabetes since he was a child and has had over 500,000 injections in his lifetime. Michaels tweeted: “I’ve spent the last 3 weeks in & out of emergency rooms with my kidneys & tests on my heart. With over 500,000 injections in my lifetime along with blood tests as a result of having Type 1 #Diabetes since age 6, I’ve been feeling a little down lately physically & spiritually.” Michaels says he is rededicating himself to his health and is going to work to get his blood sugar right.
