Flashback: Van Halen's First Headlining Tour


Van Halen kicked off their very first headlining tour 40 years ago this week, but fans who weren't there are only now getting to see the full show thanks to unearthed footage. To celebrate the release of their second album, the California rockers hit the road on March 25, 1979, taking the stage in Fresno. D.L. Johnson smuggled not only audio equipment into Selland Arena, but an 8mm film camera, which he used to record the set in its entirety. While a few clips have emerged over the years, this is the first time the entire show has emerged, posted in fully restored glory.
