Jimi Hendrix Honored By The U.S. Post Office

With the unveiling of a plaque bearing his name, the Renton Highlands Post Office in Washington State is now officially known for the Master of the Stratocaster. The James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix Post Office is an honorary designation for the guitar legend buried just blocks away at the Greenwood Cemetery. According to Darrell Stoke, the Postal Service district manager for that part of the Pacific Northwest, only four other postal buildings in Washington have received honorary names since the program started in 1967. Last Friday's ceremony was attended by members of the Hendrix family and US Congressman Adam Smith, who sponsored the legislation.
