The Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde Announces New Covers Album

Want to hear Chrissie Hynde covering some great tunes in a jazzy style? Then check out her new record coming out in September. On Valve Bone Woe, The Pretenders singer gives fans 14 of her own takes on songs by John Coltrane, Nick Drake, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Charlie Mingus, and Frank Sinatra.

Speaking of the upcoming album, Hynde says, "Jazz got sidelined by rock & roll in the '60s, but now the demise of rock seems to be heralding in a newfound interest in it, the most creative and innovative musical forms of the 20th century. I'm happy to jump on the bandwagon." Two singles from the collection are streaming now: The Beach Boys' "Caroline, No" and Don Raye and Gene De Paul's "You Don't Know What Love Is."

Chrissie will perform songs from her upcoming album with a full orchestra on July 6th at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
