The entertainment world was saddened on Monday by the news that Hollywood actress and singer Doris Day had passed at the age of 97 following a bout with pneumonia. As tributes poured in from all over, one such was from Paul McCartney. The pair were longtime friends who bonded over their passion for animal rights. Taking to his webpage, the Beatles legend called Day, "a true star in more ways than one," adding, "She had a heart of gold and was a very funny lady who I shared many laughs with." McCartney continued, "I will miss her but will always remember her twinkling smile and infectious laugh as well as the many great songs and movies she gave us."
