If people are moving away from using cash, why shouldn't that be reflected in our board games? That seems to be the logic behind the latest version of Monopoly, which swaps the iconic paper money for a digital banker. With the 2019 edition, the center of the board features a large top hat. When pressed, "Mr. Monopoly" will handle the transaction via spoken commands.
Supporters of the update say it will cut down on cheating as no one can pocket a few extra bills on the side, while others aren't so thrilled. The game hits store shelves on July 1st for about $30, with Target and Walmart currently taking pre-orders.
