UPS & Target are hiring like crazy right now!!
UPS said it expects to hire about 100,000 seasonal workers and pay them more to handle the avalanche of packages shipped between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Delivery rival FedEx and major retailers are expected to lay out their plans in the next few weeks.
UPS paid an average of $10.10 per hour for seasonal workers last year. This year, under a new labor contract, pay rates will range from $14 an hour up to, for truck drivers, $30 an hour.
UPS says that in recent years, about one-third of people hired for seasonal jobs land full-time jobs with the company when the holidays are over.
Meanwhile, Target has openings if you are looking for some extra cash to the end of the year. The big-box store is hiring 130,00 seasonal workers for the upcoming holiday season. Perks include a starting wage of $13 an hour, 10 percent off regular purchases and 20 percent off "wellness" purchases like vegetables and workout gear. 125, 000 of the jobs will be spread out at Target's 1,800 stores. The other positions will be in distribution and fulfillment centers to get merchandise shipped in time for the holiday's.
