Ric Ocasek left a final message to his family before he died over the weekend from heart disease, his sons have revealed.
"Our dad was a prolific doodler," the late Cars singer's sons wrote in a message posted Tuesday on social media. "His passing was sudden, unexpected and beyond heartbreaking. Yesterday, we found this last doodle on his armchair. He couldn’t have known what it would end up meaning to us. We love him so much."
The doodle, drawn in black and red ink, shows a figure with the words "Never forget that look" written on its left. Beneath the figure are the words "Keep on laughin'" and "It is what it is." Ocasek's body was discovered Sunday morning in his New York City apartment by his estranged wife, former model Paulina Porizkova.
