The small town where John Mellencamp grew up is celebrating their hometown rocker in a big way.
Located in central Indiana, the City of Seymour commissioned a 35-foot-tall mural of Mellencamp painted on the side of This Old Guitar Music Store.
Two images of the singer are featured, including a modern-day depiction and one of him in his younger days wearing an FFA jacket, along with a lyric from "Small Town".
According to Larry McDonald, owner of the building, "He is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It's a big big deal. It's a big deal to me."
