Wellness Shot: Why Do We Care About Sugar?

Why Do We Care About Sugar, What’s The Big Deal?

Sugar could literally make you more likely to die. That’s not exactly sweet! Harvard Health says too much sugar may raise your risk of dying of heart disease.even if you aren’t overweight. The more sugar you eat, the higher your chances are for a not good outcome.

American Heart Association suggests women should have less than 100 calories of added sugar per day (about 6 teaspoons or 25 grams) and men should have less than 150 calories of added sugar per day (about 9 teaspoons or 36 grams).

Food companies are starting to include the added sugar amount on nutrition labels, so now you’ll see the total sugar as well as the added sugar, making it easier to keep track of the amounts you’re having throughout the day. Sweet!
