Tom Hanks Gives Typewriter To Bullied Boy Name Corona

Tom Hanks is stepping up once again! The actor stepped in to help a little boy who was being bullied because of his name.

The little boy is 8-year-old Corona De Vries from Australia. When Corona heard that Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson were in Australia recovering from Coronavirus, he wrote to the actors to ask how they were feeling. That note started a correspondence between Tom and the boy and in one of those letters little Corona told Tom that the kids in school online were bullying him and calling him "coronavirus." Well Tom decided to give little Corona a collectible Corona typewriter since Tom is an avid typewriter collector. Tom also wrote a letter to the boy:

"Dear Friend Corona.Your letter made my wife and I feel so wonderful! Thank you for being such a good friend - friends make friends feel good when they are down. You are the only person I've ever known to have the name Corona - like the ring around the sun, a crown. I thought this typewriter would suit you," he said. "I had taken it to the Gold Coast, and now, it is back - with you. Ask a grown up how it works. And use it to write me back."

Hanks had hand-written at the end of the letter: "PS! You got a friend in ME!" - a reference to the popular film's theme song.
