The Best Ways To Show Your Kids You Love Them

When you have kids, one of the best things you can do for the world is to turn your babies into people who will go out into the world and do good!

The number one step to making this happen? Make sure your little ones feel loved. In this article I found on Twitter (more about that later!) Psychotherapist Amy Morin (host of the Mentally Strong People podcast, and author of 13 Things Mentally Strong Parents Don't Do) says when kids have that secure “feel loved” emotional piece of the puzzle in place, they can use their brain bandwidth to focus on learning and creating.

“Show your kids you love them” seems obvious, but when we’re super busy it’s easy to get distracted from that priority. These tips could put a new idea in your parenting tool box, or one will jump out at you that you might be a little more conscious to fit in your day.

1.Listen to your child. Resist the temptation to glance at your phone (ahem Twitter), put your Amazon order to the side, and embrace the moment to show a genuine interest in what your child is telling you

2.Have fun together! Build a Lego kit, have a picnic in the backyard. Nothing fancy, the key element is together

3. Hug them. A lot! Especially teenagers who will say, “Eww Mom stop,” (quote courtesy of my 19-year old yesterday I’m totally serious) they still need that reassurance
