The Iconic Sony Walkman is celebrating its 40th birthday! The personal stereo cassette player, which first appeared on 1st July 1979, was the first device allowing people to play music on the go. Sony sold more than 220 million of the cassette version before calling time on it in 2010.
I personally owned several walkmans from the 80s, 90s and I might still have one hiding in a closet somewhere! It became my favorite way to listen to my music whenever and where I wanted.
